Katonah Yoga Fits and Folds- modifications to advanced asana
How do we modify & advance yoga poses safely and efficiently?
The body is designed to fit. Knees fit armpits, fists fit palms, the arch of the foot fits the crease of the elbow. The body folds, and when folded with form, we find the fits that create the most function.
More advanced asanas have more intricate fits and folds, just like origami. These are not accomplished by contorting oneself, but rather by moving through steps with proper technique and form. First folds are the first steps to create a beginning pose and serve as modifications for students who may have limitations or injuries. The goal is to move step by step with proper technique, form and alignment.
In this training, learn modifications for Katonah Yoga asana and the various ways to fold, unfold, and find the fits in the body. Discover how to properly modify and advance a pose and move away from the personal and into the archetypal version of the form.
